Ever wonder where the real San Francisco has gone? Stop in at this "Dirty, poorly-lit place for books" at 48 Turk near Market and, amongst the engorged bookshelves, you may find it. Host/owner Itzhak (pronounced "EYE-zak") began hosting this most San Franciscan of open mics 6 months ago and opened his doors to "knife-throwers, fire eaters, spoon benders and republicans." Hemmingway might skip the joint, but chances of finding anything or anyone else on the night are good.
