I.C.A.N. Gallery

This open mic is the first Thursday of every month.

The I.C.A.N. (Independent Community Arts Network) Gallery functions as a performance space, art gallery, and venue for independent film. With the "songsalive!" organization, this monthly open mic is a talent showcase for invited local scouts who are in the audience to find new talent for shows they are putting on. Performers have the chance to win $25 or $50 from a random drawing at the end of the evening. The money comes from a pool: $1 is collected from everyone performing that evening. In their own words:

This is a space dedicated to presenting music in a cozy, homey atmosphere with couches and artworks . . . we also supply a full stage backline including a house drum kit, bass amp and guitars amps and a Kurzweil PC88 keyboard, along with a full PA system and monitors, just like they do in Nashville. Just plug in and play and leave the gear at home.
