This open mic happens wednesdays except every 3rd Friday when the WCS folks take over (see below).

"Pretty kick-ass!" is the phrase of the night. This open mic is pretty chilled out and attended by decent players. The end of the night is often an open jam with the musicians that have stuck around while the staff sweeps the floor and finishes closing. Attached to the Sebastopol Inn, the Coffee Catz open mic usually draws in a number of talented regulars.

Fridays, Ken Risling and Kate Sholl from the West Coast Songwriters organization, (707) 571-0086, ksholl at sonic dot net take over the place and hold a professionally judged songwriting competition. You have to join WCS to play, but you can do that on the spot. The other WCS open mics are 3rd or 4th mondays in Berkeley's Freight & Salvage Coffee Shop, second thursdays in the city at Circadia (starbucks), third mondays in Mill Valley at Sweetwater, and third mondays in Cupertino at Brittania Arms
